Description

Monumento dos Restauradores is a symbolic structure located in the Praça dos Restauradores, in the heart of Lisbon. This obelisk was inaugurated in 1886 to commemorate Portugal's Restoration of Independence in 1640, after 60 years of Spanish rule. The bronze statues at the base represent Victory and Freedom, symbolic figures of the restoration movement. The square around the monument is a bustling area near Avenida da Liberdade, surrounded by historic buildings and luxury hotels.
